The Shaolin Liuhe Gong training workshop, successfully completed in the context of the Act "Acquaintance with the Internal Arts of Shaolin" that Greek Shaolin Cultural Organization implemented, in the early morning mist of a forest nearby Lagadas, a small city of northern Greece, this weekend and was addressed to the masters and high level students of the Hellenic Shaolin Cultural Center, and was supported by the Greek Shaolin Federation.

The training workshop was about the rare and ancient Art of the Shaolin Neigong "Six Harmonious Practices» [Chin.: Shàolín liùhé gōng 少林六合功] and was presented by the General Director of the Greek Shaolin Cultural Organization Master Shi Yan Zhuo [Chin.: shì yán zhuō 释延卓] who inherited this Ancient Shaolin Neigong Art by his Master Shi Yong Po [Chin.: shìyǒngpō 释永坡] in Shaolin Temple.

At this Spring morning Training, the participants had an Experimental analysis of Liu He Gong, which is the primordial root of today’s Tai Ji Quan. In detail the skills presented were:

1. Single Hand Pushes Mountain [Chin.: dānshǒutuīshān 单手推山- lungs]

2. Wind Swings Willow [Chin.: fēngbǎiliǔ 风擺柳 - spleen]


3. Embracing the Moon [Chin.: huáizhōng bàoyuè 怀中抱月 - liver]


4. Subduing the Tiger [Chin.: fúhǔshì 伏虎勢 - triple burner]

5. Holding the Sky with the palm [Chin.: tuòtiānzhǎng 拓天掌 - heart]

6. The palm subdues the Dragon [Chin.: jiànglóngzhǎng 降龙掌 - kidneys]

About Shaolin Liuhegong

Six Harmonious Practices «Shaolin Liuhe Gong» are said to be part of the Shaolin Chanqijian [Chin.: Shàolín chǎnqìjiàn 少林产气健] and that they have not been altered. It is health enhancing neigong done for achieving mental clarity and getting rid of anxiety and depression. Each of the six movements and postures correspond to a different organ in the body, such as the heart, lungs, kidneys, spleen, liver, and to different meridian channels. It is a Qigong routine in motion and has obvious characteristics of a basic Tai Ji Quan form. The basic «cat-walking» [Chin.: miáoxíng 猫行] walking movement looks just like a variation of the «Brush Knee and Twist Step» [Chin.: Zuoyou Lōuxī Àobù, 左右搂膝拗步] of Taiji Quan. The Liu He Gong set teaches the use of the concept of «Swing, Sink, and Point» that is familiar to Taiji Quan.
