On the weekend of June 14–15, 2025, the headquarters of the Hellenic Shaolin Cultural Organization (EPOS) in Artemida successfully hosted the fifth training seminar of the innovative Shaolin Kung Fu Duan Pin Evaluation System (少林功夫段品制), officially marking the beginning of the Second Practice Cycle in this new official teaching system of the Shaolin Temple.
The presence of Shi Yan Jia – Alexandra Stavridou (释延佳), a distinguished teacher with deep knowledge and authentic experience in the Shaolin tradition, lent special prestige to the seminar. Supported by EPOS founder Shi Yan Zhuo (释延卓) and the organization's president Shi Yan Kong (释延空), the event radiated authenticity and a deep respect for the rich heritage of this ancient art.
Over the course of two intensive four-hour sessions, participants were trained in the first Duì Liàn (对练) Two-Person Sparring Sets, approaching the techniques with precision, discipline, and a spirit of immersion. The high and demanding level of instruction offered attendees a unique opportunity to delve deeply into the multifaceted forms of Shaolin Kung Fu.
The new Duan Pin evaluation system represents a modern and structured approach to assessing students’ skills and progress, with clearly defined levels and criteria. At the same time, it preserves the core of the tradition, integrating spiritual values and ethical principles into the learning process.
Beyond physical training, the seminar also highlighted the inner dimension of the art. Through dedicated practice, participants connected with the fundamental principles of Shaolin: discipline, focus, inner stability, and the unity of mind and body. This experience served as a bridge between technical proficiency and the philosophical foundation of Shaolin, reinforcing the internal cultivation that lies at the heart of this martial art.
EPOS continues to stand as a vital hub for the authentic transmission of Shaolin knowledge in Greece, promoting excellence, tradition, and inner transformation through the timeless path of Shaolin Kung Fu.
