Visiting our Grand Master Shi Yong Guo | Επίσκεψη Στο Μεγάλο Μας Δάσκαλο Σι Γιουνγκ Γκουό


One of the most important visits that EPOS mission planned this year, was a journey to the heroic South Shaolin Temple and a visit to the Master of  Shi Yan Zhuo, the Venerable Abbot Shi Yong Guo. But during the planning of the journey, which lasts 48 hours with the traditional train, the Greek mission was informed that the Master was absent on business and could not visit him. The problem lasted only for a few hours, since Shi Yan Zhuo phone rang, bringing  pleasant and comforting news.

Master Shi Yong Guo [chin.: shìyǒngguó 释永国 | 1962 - ] was on a three-day visit for important religious affairs, in Deng Feng city and waited for EPOS students to meet them.

The mission departed early in the morning on July 22, 2015, to Deng Feng, where two hours later, they met the great master, just before the meeting for national religious minority issues. Master Shi Yong Guo welcomed his student Shi Yan Zhuo jubilant and offered tea and fruit to all members of the EPOS team, who did not stop saying how happy they were to meet him closely. Master Shi Yong Guo is an integral part of the EPOS masters pedigree and meeting with him, filled all with indescribable joy and enthusiasm, and shortly before the departure of EPOS team, the master formally invited the Greek Shaolin Cultural Organization to visit and to get to know the culture of the South Shaolin Temple.

About Master Shi Yong Guo

Master Shi Yong Guo is a monk with great knowledge on unarmed skills of Shaolin. He went to the Shaolin Temple in 1976, where he was a disciple of the Venerable Shi Xing Zheng [chin .: shìxíngzhèng dàshī 释 行 正 大师 / 1914 - 1987], who immediately realized the talent of the charismatic young. Fourteen years old Yong Guo started to learn Shaolin Kung Fu by Shaolin masters of the time. In 1980, Venerable Shi Xing Zheng send him to study at the Buddhist College of Nan Jing [chin .: nánjīngfóxuéyuàn 南京 佛 学院] and in 1982, he returned to the Shaolin Temple. In 1991, he commits  to help the Venerable Shi Yong Hai at the Feng Xue temple, and in 1998 he was appointed Abbot of the Temple of the Double Dragon in Luohe city [chin .: luòhé shì shuānglóng sì 漯河 市 双龙 寺].

Driven by his moral and knowledge, the Chinese Buddhist Association [chin .: zhòngguó fójiào xiéhuì 中国 佛教 协会] and the Ministry of Religion of Fu Qing [chin .: fúqìngshì zōngjiàojú 福清 市 宗教局] in August 2000,  invited him officially and assigned to him the restoration of the South Shaolin Temple [chin.: Nán Shàolínsì 南少林寺] in Fu Qing [chin .: fúqīng nán shàolínsì 福清 南 少林寺], a position that was about to take Venerable Master Shi Su Xi [chin .: Shì Sùxǐ 释 素 喜 | 1924 - 2006] deputy Abbot [chin .: zhuxi mingyu 名誉 主席] of the Shaolin temple, but did not accept due to health problems. There, with the permission of the government, he was appointed as the first Abbot of the south Shaolin Temple reconstruction generation and by March 2003, he undertakes the training of martial monks of South Shaolin Temple.
